Launched in May 2009, the JCT Contract Revision 2 now incorporates a sustainability provision which is one of the biggest changes ever made, and follows JCT’s consultation and provisions building on OGC’s Achieving Excellence Criteria. JCT has also taken the opportunity to modify aspects of the payment provisions as part of this new Revision 2.

Withdrawal of JCT 98
Copies of the contracts are still available from Sweet & Maxwell via its document delivery service, although the contracts are watermarked as 'outdated'. Similarly, copies will be available through the JCT Contracts Digital Service, but watermarked as 'archive'.

JCT stopped supporting the 98 contracts in 2007 as they have been superseded by the JCT 2005 suite.

Attestation Update - February 2008
An update has been issued by JCT (Joint Contracts Tribunal), introducing new forms for execution as a Deed and guidance notes to replace the existing form within JCT contracts. The new forms facilitate an additional method for execution. The attestation update, which comes as a result of the Companies Act 2006 (section 44(2)(b)), provides for a third method of execution as a Deed, allowing a signature by a single director, suitably witnessed, to suffice. The new provision of the Companies Act 2006 takes effect from April 1, 2008.
