RICS Home Surveys are a series of RICS residential property reports with accompanying guidance. Each report is designed to support members in delivering the value-added, professional and quality service to your clients. The first report available is the HomeBuyer Report

The RICS HomeBuyer Service

Joining the RICS HomeBuyer Service will allow you to use the improved RICS HomeBuyer Report. It enables you to produce professional reports under licence. By signing up to the RICS HomeBuyer Service Copyright Licence Scheme you will be able to offer your clients the latest HomeBuyer Report, complete with Energy Performance Ratings and clear Condition Ratings.

Written in plain English, the HomeBuyer Report is designed to be consumer friendly.

Use a licensed third party supplier: A number of software providers are licensed to support RICS Home Surveys Reports. Check with your regular software provider.

HBR PDF template users
The HBR PDF template is no longer available. Please Refer to ‘Your options for delivering the HomeBuyer report’ for ways to produce the HBR report.

Joining the RICS HomeBuyer Service

RICS Condition Report - Now launched

A new addition to the RICS Home Surveys family has now launched.

The Condition Report (CR) has been developed to complement a mortgage valuation. Providing a brief report on the condition of a property and any major risks and legal issues, the RICS Condition Report has no additional advice or market valuation.

To deliver the RICS Condition Report, members must join the RICS Condition Report copyright license scheme. The licence scheme is free of charge in 2011.

RICS Survey Writer


The easiest way to produce reports is to use the new improved RICS Survey Writer online software.

RICS Survey Writer will:

  • help you manage your client’s instructions via online job files
  • give you shared access with colleagues to administer reports from different locations
  • enable flexible text entry, including access to 1,000 RICS sample phrases, and the option to build your own libraries of shared company and individual favourite phrases
  • make use of RICS supporting documents and upload your own company documents, logos and photos
  • enable you to deliver your reports securely over the web
  • automatically populate the Section C report summary table.
