Terms and Conditions for online sales by RICS Books
This is the agreement for online sales between you and RICS Books (RICS Books, we). These Terms and Conditions do not apply to any sales by third parties via the Site. Your use of the RICS Books website, www.ricsbooks.com ( the “Site”) will be subject to these Terms and Conditions and the RICS Websites Terms and Conditions at www.rics.org/termsconditions.htm (“the Terms and Conditions”)
The Site
The Site is offered to you by RICS and RICS Books (RICS Books is a commercial publishing and bookselling arm of The Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors). RICS Books is based at: Surveyor Court, Westwood Business Park, Coventry CV4 8JE, United Kingdom.
Acceptance of Terms and Conditions
You consent to the Terms and Conditions when you use the Site. If you disagree with any part of the Terms and Conditions, please refrain from using the Site.
Non-RICS publications, goods and services
None of the products or services featured on this Site that are produced by non-RICS third-party publishers, manufacturers or other suppliers are endorsed by RICS or any of its subsidiary businesses (including RICS Books). In addition, neither RICS nor any of its subsidiary businesses (including RICS Books) have any financial interest in these third-party publishers, manufacturers or suppliers, who operate as independent commercial concerns. Any information regarding availability is subject to publishers, manufacturers or other supplier's stock levels.
Availability
Any information regarding availability is subject to publishers’ stock levels. Please note that the Site does not have a 'live' link into our main database therefore availability displayed for each title is subject to change.
Pricing
All items are charged in UK Pounds Sterling (£). RICS Books aim to provide the most accurate information on book prices at all times. We supply items at the publisher’s recommended price except where a specific discount is offered. Occasionally publishers may increase their prices unexpectedly, and this is often something we become aware of only upon ordering stock from them. In the event that this occurs, or in the event of a pricing error howsoever caused, we will check with you to see if you still wish to receive the item at the new price.
Discounts
RICS Books provides discounted pricing on certain items. Items which have a RICS member price and student price will be displayed on each item. Where RICS member or students discounts are available you will be requested to provide either your RICS membership number or relevant student information in your user profile to apply for the discount. Please note that student discounts are applicable to full-time university students only and to single copy orders. Multiple orders will not be processed at this price.
Vouchers
- Vouchers may only be used online
- Vouchers cannot be used in conjunction with any other offer
- Only one voucher can be used per online order
- Vouchers will expire on the date indicated by the promotion
- Vouchers are only valid on items specified by the voucher promotion
- Vouchers are not transferable and cannot be redeemed for cash. Nominal voucher value is 0.001p
- RICS Books reserves the right to reject any voucher in it's reasonable discretion
Currency Converter
RICS Books has provided currency information in order to assist you with your purchase. This currency converter service is under licence from XE.com, under their end user terms of use. Currency data is provided by XE.com to RICS on an ‘As Is’ basis. XE.com has used its best commercial efforts to obtain the most accurate and timely information available, including information pertaining to currency rates, all of which are complex and subject to rapid change.
Payment Methods
Full payment for all orders is required at the time of ordering. All orders not accompanied by payment or authorisation to debit MasterCard/Visa/Switch accounts will be returned with a proforma invoice requesting payment before goods can be despatched. Goods remain the property of RICS Books until payment is received. Payment can be made by MasterCard, Visa and Maestro.
RICS Books Credit Account Facility
Subject to terms and conditions, RICS Books operate a credit account facility.
VAT
Goods are inclusive of VAT where applicable.Books are currently zero-rated, but many contracts, forms, audio, video tapes, and electronic products including isurv and Red Book Online are subject to VAT at the standard rate. If there is any change in legislation, VAT will be applicable at the standard rate in accordance with such changes. RICS Books’ VAT registration number is GB 584 9400 13.
Delivery
Every effort is made to ensure that goods are delivered on time and the time indications provided below are subject to the goods being in stock at the time of order and may vary at certain times of the year. RICS Books cannot be held responsible for any parcel not arriving within any guaranteed time due to circumstances beyond our control.
Delivery to UK
Standard delivery (UK Orders only)

• Plus 60p for each additional item
UK Orders over £75 - Free Standard Delivery (Online Orders Only) - The value of £75 applies to the total value after any discounts have been applied. Discounts include RICS member discounts, student discounts and special offers. Please note this offer is only available to orders placed on this website.
Standard delivery orders are despatched by Royal Mail, for delivery within 3-5 working days. Some high value or bulky items may be despatched by courier and require a signature. Royal Mail’s terms and conditions are that we have to allow 15 working days for them to deliver items before they will investigate for non delivery. If you have any queries or concerns regarding this, please contact us.
Premium delivery (UK Orders only)
You can upgrade to premium delivery at the checkout. Orders placed before 2pm Monday - Friday will be delivered the next working day by courier and will need to be signed for. If you need your order more urgently please call RICS Books on 0870 333 1600.

Special Delivery Service (UK Orders only)
Please note there is an additional charge for this service. Orders must be placed with us by 2pm Monday-Thursday. For delivery by Royal Mail by 1pm the next day the charge would be £6.35 plus our usual Premium Rate charge. For delivery by City Link Courier by 10:30am the next day the charge would be £13.00 plus our usual Premium Rate charge. Services are guaranteed by the carrier and both will require a signature upon delivery. Delivery outside the UK
International Express Delivery Service (Europe & ROW)
You can upgrade to International Express Delivery Service at the checkout. Orders have to be placed before 2pm Monday - Friday and will be despatched by UPS and require a signature. Delivery will be within 2-7 working days. The cost of this will be your normal international delivery rates below plus an additional £10.00 per order.
Delivery to Europe
Goods will be delivered by using the most suitable method for the goods ordered by customers. A charge of £7.50 per item will be made. Delivery time for international orders will vary depending on country, but will be approximately 5-15 working days. We also offer an Express service the cost of which is an additional £10.00 per order, your order will be despatched by UPS and require a signature. Delivery will be within 2-7 working days.
Delivery to Rest of the World
Goods will be delivered by using the most suitable method for the goods ordered by customers. A charge of £10.50 per item will be made. Delivery time for international orders will vary depending on country, but will be approximately 5-15 working days. We also offer an Express service the cost of which is an additional £10.00 per order, your order will be despatched by UPS and require a signature. Delivery will be within 2-7 working days.
Claims
Claim for non-delivery must be made within 30 days from the date of despatch for UK orders, 90 days for overseas orders. Claims for shortages and damages must be made within 10 working days from date of receipt. All packaging must be retained for inspection. Claims not received within these periods may not be met. Out of Stock
Customers who have placed orders for items temporarily out of stock will be informed within 14 days. These items will be recorded and supplied when available.
Returns
We are happy for you to return items which are in their original condition, but all returns requests must be made within 30 days from date of invoice and prior authorisation is required from RICS Books. Please note that this return policy is not applicable for the purchase of online products, such as isurv and Red Book Online, or any item that has been specifically produced or printed to order, such as selected RICS guidance documents, RICS Archive documents and British Standards. If you would like to return items to RICS Books please contact our customer service department at rbcustomerservice@rics.org or alternatively call +44 [0] 870 333 1600 (option 2), where the necessary instructions about returning items will be given. Also contact our customer service department if you would like to return items because of an error on our part or the item is defective.
Standing Orders for Annual Titles
If you wish to ensure immediate delivery of any annual titles without having to regularly re-order, you may place a standing order with us. Please notify us if you wish to receive a proforma for any annual work on publication.
Subscription Works
Customers purchasing an RICS Books updating, subscription work will be sent updates directly from RICS Books, or in the case of online products such as Red Book Online and isurv subscriptions, updates will automatically be uploaded onto the website. Customers purchasing a non-RICS Books updating works will also have updates sent directly from and charged by RICS Books. In addition, future subscription renewal requests for subscription works will be made by RICS Books who will manage all aspects of the subscription on behalf of the third-party publisher.

Certain links on this Site will lead to websites not under the control of the RICS. They are provided solely for your convenience and do not constitute any endorsement of any third party products or services.
Intellectual Property
All intellectual property in the publications and data supplied by RICS Books is vested in RICS. This does not apply to publications and data provided by third parties on or via the Site.
The layout, Site content, Site design, graphics, text, software compilations, underlying source code, software (including applets) and all other material on this Site are copyright RICS Books. ALL RIGHTS RESERVED. Permission is granted to electronically copy and to print in hard copy portions of the Site for the sole purpose of placing an order with ricsbooks.com or using this Site as a shopping resource. Any other use of materials on this Site, including reproduction for purposes other than those noted above, modification, distribution, or republication without prior written permission of RICS Books is strictly prohibited.

RICS Books reserve the right to change or update any Terms and Conditions relating to the use of the Site from time to time without prior notice to users.
Governing Law
These Terms and Conditions are guaranteed by and constructed in accordance with English law with English courts having exclusive jurisdiction.
